Cookie policy
Infosphere uses one cookie, only to keep the site secure, and remembers two settings in your browser. Nothing here tracks you, shows you ads or is shared with anyone else.
The cookie
- __Host-infosphere
- Strictly necessary. Set by Infosphere when you open a page. It holds a random security code that proves a form, such as feedback, was sent from this site and not from another one, and it keeps Infosphere staff signed in to the admin pages. Your browser deletes it when you close the browser; for staff it ends after 30 minutes without activity and at most 12 hours after signing in. It is only ever sent over an encrypted connection, and it cannot be read by scripts on the page.
Settings saved in your browser
These stay on your device. They are never sent to Infosphere or anyone else.
- sphere-theme
- Whether you picked the light or dark theme, so the next page opens the same way. Kept until you clear your browser's site data. If you never switch the theme, it is not saved and the site follows your device's setting.
- sphere-kiosk
- Only on the campus kiosk screen: tells the page to show the on-screen keyboard. Deleted when the browser is closed.
What we do not use
No advertising, analytics or social media cookies, and no cookies from other companies. Visitors are counted on our server without cookies, as explained in the privacy policy. The typefaces are downloaded from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address like any website you load but does not set cookies for it.
Why there is no cookie banner
The only cookie is needed for the site to work safely, and the two settings only remember choices you made. None of them track you, so there is nothing to agree to.
Turning them off
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings. The guide, map and chat still work. Sending feedback needs the cookie, so allow it for this site if you want to send a note.
Changes
If the site starts using a new cookie or setting, it is added to this page and the date at the top moves. Questions? Use the feedback page.
